Three "NLM Resources for Nurses" videos highlight free, online resources for nursing research, patient education, and drug information:

In fewer than 4 minutes, learn about 15 different NLM resources to support nursing research and promote quality health outcomes.
·         NLM Resources for Nurses: Patient Education
In only 2 ½ minutes, learn about 11 different NLM resources to help patients and their families learn more about diseases, disorders, conditions, and treatments.
·         NLM Resources for Nurses: Drug Information
In just over 4 minutes, learn about six NLM drug information resources to support clinical care and patient education.

The PubMed for Nurses Tutorial was created specifically to help nurses efficiently find literature using PubMed.  The five videos with exercises to test your knowledge were designed to be completed in less than 30 minutes.

Resources for Standards and Interoperability
The Nursing Standards and Interoperability Web page is for nurses, students, informaticians and anyone interested in nursing terminologies for systems development. The two minute video, Leveraging UMLS Synonymy to Extract Nursing Terms from SNOMED CT, demonstrates how to use the Metathesaurus to find CUIs and extract concept-level synonyms between SNOMED CT and other nursing terminologies.

These style guides offer examples for the most often used references including journal articles, books, websites, etc.

CITATION TOOLS
These handy tools let you plug in the parts of a citation, and it will automatically format the pieces according to the citation style you need (APA included).




Many of our journal and citation databases (ie Ebsco) will also format citations in the particular style you require.  Check with each particular database for the specifics on how.

Nursing Reference Center (NRC) offers FREE CEUs for Ministry Associates

 


Keep your professional knowledge and skills up-to-date with CINAHL CEU Modules available through Nursing Reference Center (NRC).     There are over 1400 continuing education topics available.  

This service is open to nurses and allied health professionals (such as respiratory therapists, physical therapists, and more …)   Before taking the exam, you will be prompted for your name and license information.

CINAHL CEU modules are interactive educational modules that allow nurses (and other healthcare professionals) to satisfy CE requirements online.  They contain the latest topics on patient care and drug administration.  Each CEU consists of :
     ·         course materials
     ·         interactive review / practice test
     ·         a competency test
     ·         a certificate of completion


CINAHL is accredited as a provider of continuing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).  Please check your certification-specific requirements.

The MMC  Library has 1 year's worth of      2013    AudioDigest CDs  available for FREE.

Although these audioCDs are too old to apply for CE credits, they do still offer  excellent information for Physicians, PAs, Nurses, and other health professionals.
